Better than fiction, irresistably charming - Icelandic Sports Documentary

The Home Game is a spirited story of an impulsive Icelander’s attempt to complete his father’s failed mission: To finally get their beloved fishing village an official home game on the unused football pitch he built 25 years prior.
Kari Vidarsson registers an endearing team of underdogs in the prestigious Men's FA Cup with only a 50/50 chance of getting their long awaited home game.  Kari embraces his father’s old coaching philosophy and enlists anyone willing to play, including a fisherman and his son, wide eyed teenagers and a mother of three.
The inclusion of their female player risks forfeiting the game as mixed gender teams are deemed illegal by the FA. The dilemma results in an unprecedented sequence of events on game day building up to an incredible moment by the unlikely female hero.

A cheerful story of a football team, destined to fail, but ultimately successful. Once you see the audience’s reaction to the movie, you are once again reminded that Icelanders really like football. The film got a roaring applause.

Irina Zubenko - Reykjavik Grapevine Magazine

The narrative in this documentary is incredible for a true story and it reaches heights that traditional underdog fiction films don’t always reach. The Home Game manages to evoke tremendous excitement as well as it manages to be ridiculously funny.

Kolbeinn Rastrick - Rás 1 Radio Iceland

The Home Game shows how a local football team can mysteriously be the way to the heart of a small town, its dreams and aspirations - not to mention the power of unity and sticking together… The final scene is more memorable than those from most Hollywood sports films, and various key points in the film are crystallized in the climax.

Asgeir H. Ingolfsson - Heimildin News

A great upbeat crowdpleaser... the packed cinema of Skjaldborg joyfully celebrated the film.
